Caring for Your Beautyrest Mattress

Caring for Your Beautyrest World Class Mattress

You just spent a sizable amount of money on new, modern beds for your home. The mattresses are ideal for your needs and you want to keep them that way. What do you do to keep these mattresses in the best shape possible? There are several key components to keep in mind after you bring your new beds home.

It really does not matter if you purchased a Beautyrest World Class Mattress or other mattress. The fact is, all mattresses need a bit of care put into maintaining them or they simply may not last long enough. The first step is to read the warranty document you received. Find out what the specific limitations on the warranty are. Never do anything to your bed that is restricted or that will void the warranty.

On the other hand, you do want to take steps to maintain the mattress long term. Children's bedroom furniture, wood daybeds and other bedroom furniture can take a beating if you are not carefully. The following tips will help you to avoid any damage to the mattress.

  • Purchase and use a washable cover that fits over the top of the mattress. This will give the mattress the best protection from stains of all types. These protective covers are highly effective for kids bedroom furniture, especially in the younger years.

  • Allow the bed to air out on a regular basis. Every few days, remove the sheets and allow the mattress to breath for 30 minutes or so. This will allow any moisture to dry off the bed quickly and will help to keep it smelling fresh.

  • Avoid damaging the coils in the mattress by not jumping on the bed. Avoid sitting right on the edge of the bed as well. This puts excessive strain on the mattress, bending the coils there.

  • Never roll up the mattress to bend it when shipping it. By doing this, you misalign the coils within it. It can cause permanent damage to the innerspring system by doing this.

  • Keep it debris free. Even with a protective cover on the mattress it is quite possible that the mattress can have debris on it. This is very important for avoiding bed bugs, too. Shake off the mattress regularly to avoid dust, allergens or even skin cells from accumulating here.

  • Always have a supportive base for the mattress to lay on. Most bedroom furniture requires a box spring. However, if you have storage bedroom furniture or a platform bedroom furniture set, this may not be needed. The box spring provides enough support for the mattress to protect it long term

When it comes to investing in a new mattress, make it last by simply purchasing a quality product and protecting it long term. Beautyrest Classic Mattresses like most mattresses today will last ten years, with many of them coming with warranties for at least that long. However, a warranty will not protect you if you do not take steps to ensure the mattress is well protected when you use it.
