Now that a new year has dawned upon us, we welcome some and bid goodbye to others. Among the ones we need to part ways with are these trends. While some of you still find the appeal in them, we offer these suggestions in accommodation to the emerging trends. Also, that they are losing their touch.
So, here are three design trends we should move away from.
It’s time for us to let go of the gaudy and the tacky. Opulence has its allure, but we don’t need a lot of gold and glittery decorative pieces in the home. The same goes for glossy metallic wall accents or wallpaper. It overloads the senses and can be overly distracting.
Barnyard and Distressed Aesthetic
We all love a good rustic style, but turning your home into a farm is no longer enticing – especially when you live in the city. This reaches the border towards kitsch, and if we’re gearing towards a “worn by time” look, we can go for traditional instead.
We understand that having a fireplace in your home can be outright dangerous, but replacing them with electric ones is still not a good move. In a time when sustainability and authenticity are high values, pieces like this won’t likely cut.
